Unlawful use of a Weapon is a charge when you have possession of a weapon other than a gun. Based on the weapon that is found in someone’s possession, you can be charged with a misdemeanor or felony. Weapons such as a knife, brass knuckles, swords, machete, switchblade are generally charged as a Class A misdemeanor.
When someone possess these weapons in a school, public park, public housing or other sensitive areas, the charge could become a Class 4 Felony.
